Founder & Quantitative Engineer

Shiloh develops systematic trading strategies and builds the data pipelines, research tools, and execution systems that support them.

He founded Alpha Bluewater Associates in 2019 and developed the practice into Axiom Point Research. Direct responsibility for trading results has shaped his approach to research, with close attention to liquidity, trading costs, capital requirements, and downside risk.

His engineering experience includes enterprise-scale production data infrastructure for financial services, with real-time market-data pipelines and risk analytics running across multi-node GPU systems. He has also applied that experience to data and AI systems in life sciences.

Steve Chakmakjian, co-founder of Axiom Point Research

Steve Chakmakjian

Co-founder · Optical Physicist & Econophysicist

Steve brings more than three decades of experience in optical physics, precision measurement, and scientific instrument development to Axiom Point Research. He holds a Ph.D. in Optics from the University of Rochester.

His career spans research at the U.S. Air Force’s Phillips Laboratory and engineering and business leadership at Zygo, Veeco, Corning, and RPC Photonics. His work includes airborne optical sensing, interferometry, and bringing photonics technologies from the laboratory into commercial production.

He delivered nanometer-level metrology for LIGO’s gravitational-wave research and introduced optical components used in super-resolution microscopy. At Axiom Point, his focus is econophysics, applying the methods of physics to the study of markets.

Axiom Point works with engineers and traders across data infrastructure, derivatives, and execution. The team builds and operates its research systems and trades partner capital.
